Exercises for keeping the body fit

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

In today’s fast paced world, when everybody is running behind their careers to make more money and attain more fame, health is definitely taking a back seat.  The good news though, is that the awareness of ill effects of neglecting our health is spreading as fast as wild fire and even youngsters in their early twenties have starting joining fitness centers and fitness gyms to keep their body fit and healthy.

Physical fitness is an asset that is absolutely invaluable and a person who is physically fit can accomplish anything that he undertakes.  Exercises keep us fit because they tone and shape our body muscles and make them taut.  It is like how a potter makes beautiful mud pots out of the mundane clay – he moulds and uses his hands to tend the clay to become beautiful pots.  Similarly each and every one has to take care of their physical fitness by exercising regularly.

When we exercise, our muscles lose their flab and the body becomes more agile and light.  Once the flab is lost, then the body loses the horrid shape and comes back to the actual shape – for both women and men.  Women are also joining fitness gyms specially designed for them – with an all woman image as they are also becoming very concerned about their health.  We can see women of all age groups flocking such women’s fitness centre.

Another advantage while exercising to maintain physical fitness is that we acquire a lot muscle tissue.  Muscle tissue is where the metabolism happens and a lowering of the metabolism rate results in excess storage of fat in the body.  Thus we see that fitness gyms that are found quite commonly today are doing a remarkable job in taking care of our personal fitness.
However, care should be exercised and it is always better to consult a physician before signing up for any of these health and fitness programs.  The body condition of the individual needs to be thoroughly analyzed and all risks ruled out while engaging in cardio exercises like running on the treadmill.  The fitness trainers who are present in the fitness gym can also help in this regard.

Diet conscious for fitness

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

This is the era of junk foods and soft drinks – thanks to these two; today we are in bad shape both literally and figuratively.  Youngsters today, thankfully realize they are losing out on their personal fitness and have started thinking seriously about this.  They throng fitness centers and try to exercise their heart out and lose the weight that put on munching away on their favorite snacks.

In addition to all these exercising and body toning that is done at fitness clubs, one more change that has to be brought in is in the lifestyle – meaning change in dietary plan.  Even the fitness trainer who is in charge at the fitness gyms can advise the dietary plan. Generally dietitians are also available at these fitness gyms.  These dietitians chalk out a plan for a healthy diet that ensures the individual is not left craving for foods, but is also healthily supplemented.

The first and foremost concept in maintaining one’s health and fitness is the fact that a lot of green vegetables and fresh fruits need to be consumed.  The food items have a tendency to fill our stomach, have essential vitamins and proteins that are necessary for our well being, and most importantly are very low on the calories value.  Certain fruits like watermelon help reduce the weight and others like apples act as good antioxidants increasing the amount of free radicals.  It was not simply that they said an apple a day keeps the doctor away.

Another important diet related concept that is told by the fitness trainer or the dieticians at the fitness gym is the benefit of eating smaller meals with lesser intervals in between rather than having three large meals.  What the fitness personal trainer advises is that instead of having a breakfast, lunch and dinner, these can be broken down by having a light snack in between the first two and one again at tea time.  Drinking lot of water also helps.  This kind of fills the stomach as well and helps the body to not get dehydrated because of the fitness exercises that the individual takes up.

Aerobics for fitness

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

Aerobics is increasingly becoming popular as an alternate option to fitness exercise and is found to be yielding good results. Aerobics is one of the lighter forms of exercise and is believed to keep the body supple and light. Aerobics has a lot of advantages – one is that this is taught in most fitness centers as part of group fitness programs.  So people can join this course along with their friends or family and can feel comfortable.  The fact that they have company can even bring out regularly in practicing aerobics.
Aerobics is useful for fitnessOne other main advantage in practicing aerobics is that it can be done at home.  Though people might join fitness clubs and start off with learning aerobic fitness programs, after a certain point in time if they are unable to go to the fitness club, they can practice this at home.  This is not possible if people are doing cardio fitness exercises if they do not have the fitness equipments at home. This is a major reason why women chose to do aerobics as this helps them continue their bit of fitness exercising without stepping out of the comfort of their homes.
For menopausal women, who have weak bones, it is a strict no strenuous exercising.  However, to shed off their excess weight it is mandatory for them to improve their muscle fitness and they are required to do some sort of fitness exercise.  Aerobics is ideal for such women as it does help reduce weight and stress as well, but then is not too strenuous on the body.  The same could be the case with older people who have cardiac problems and are advised against doing cardio exercises. For them as well, aerobic fitness programs are very ideal.
Aerobics like yoga, is becoming quite popular of late, as it is becoming widely known that practicing aerobic fitness programs helps reduce stress levels.  Since today’s hurried pace brings about so much of stress in all of us, aerobics is proving to be one of the best fitness exercises in contributing to health and fitness of the mind and the body of every individual.
