This is the era of junk foods and soft drinks – thanks to these two; today we are in bad shape both literally and figuratively. Youngsters today, thankfully realize they are losing out on their personal fitness and have started thinking seriously about this. They throng fitness centers and try to exercise their heart out and lose the weight that put on munching away on their favorite snacks.

In addition to all these exercising and body toning that is done at fitness clubs, one more change that has to be brought in is in the lifestyle – meaning change in dietary plan. Even the fitness trainer who is in charge at the fitness gyms can advise the dietary plan. Generally dietitians are also available at these fitness gyms. These dietitians chalk out a plan for a healthy diet that ensures the individual is not left craving for foods, but is also healthily supplemented.

The first and foremost concept in maintaining one’s health and fitness is the fact that a lot of green vegetables and fresh fruits need to be consumed. The food items have a tendency to fill our stomach, have essential vitamins and proteins that are necessary for our well being, and most importantly are very low on the calories value. Certain fruits like watermelon help reduce the weight and others like apples act as good antioxidants increasing the amount of free radicals. It was not simply that they said an apple a day keeps the doctor away.

Another important diet related concept that is told by the fitness trainer or the dieticians at the fitness gym is the benefit of eating smaller meals with lesser intervals in between rather than having three large meals. What the fitness personal trainer advises is that instead of having a breakfast, lunch and dinner, these can be broken down by having a light snack in between the first two and one again at tea time. Drinking lot of water also helps. This kind of fills the stomach as well and helps the body to not get dehydrated because of the fitness exercises that the individual takes up.
